Ethnic Influences on Fashion

Designers are constantly gaining inspiration from different ethnicities. One of the most common ethnicities designers gain inspiration from is probably the Asian culture. Over the years their has been a recurrence of Asian inspired prints in fashion as well as kimonos. Other cultures that have influenced our fashion trends are the Hawaiians with Hawaiian print tops and the Indian culture with the vibrant and bright reds and or oranges.
Designers travel to other cities and countries to gain inspiration for their new designs. Designers are currently being influenced by other ethnicities. During the Mercedes-Benz Fashion week ethnic inspired clothing was seen on the runways of Anna Sui and Nicole Miller.

Domenico DOLCE and Stefano GABBANA

The designs by Dolce & Gabbana are what I like to describe as being timeless classics with a twist. Their designs are for any and every background. Unlike some other designers the products by Dolce and Gabbana are very wearable pieces. They can be worn by the fashionista of course but also by a mother with three kids or to a fancy affair. I also like the idea that they design clothing for the entire family!!! In my opinion Dolce and Gabbana are the only high fashion designers to successfully do that.

Their designs are known for accenting a woman's body in all the right places. They are also known for their bold animal prints, pinstripes and basic black garments. Not only do Dolce and Gabbana make great clothing but accessories as well (especially their sunglasses). What really amazes me about Dolce&Gabbana area their advertisements and runway shows. They are ALWAYS innovative and very distinct. Some of the advertisements have been controversial because of the sexual connotations but I see it for the art it is.
